Hi All, awhile back EA reps indicated that the company would be upgrading the version of Python used by the game. They said “the game currently uses Python 3.3.5 and will be moving to Python 3.7.0. Once this change is released, all compiled script mods will completely stop working.”
This caused a bit of consternation in the Sims community, as everyone was worried their favorite mods would break and modders would not be able to update to work with the game.
The tool most Sims 4 modders use for script mods – unpyc3 – has been updated by Andrew. Read more HERE. Please note, the code here is effective only after EA updates in the November patch.
The crisis has been averted, and Sims 4 modding will go on as usual (updates to existing mods may be needed – but those mods can be updated).
Kudos to EA for this Python update and giving the community a heads-up!
